Transcript Apostille
An academic transcript apostille authenticates a U.S. transcript for foreign employers, universities, licensing boards, and visa applications. It usually accompanies the diploma apostille.
Who needs it
- Teachers, engineers, and healthcare workers applying for foreign work permits
- Students applying to graduate programs abroad
- Applicants for professional licensure in another country
How the process works
- 1Request an official transcript
Order the transcript directly from the registrar. It must be sealed or bear the registrar's signature.
- 2Notarize the registrar's signature (if required)
Some states apostille only notarized documents. A notary attests the registrar's signature is genuine.
- 3County authentication (if required)
New York and a few other jurisdictions require county-level authentication before the state apostille.
- 4State apostille
The state that issued the notary commission or where the school is located issues the apostille.
Required documents
- Sealed official transcript from the registrar
- Notarized signature page if required by the state
Common mistakes
- Opening the sealed envelope before submitting for apostille
- Confusing an unofficial transcript printout with the official sealed version
