After-Hours Notary

Evening Mobile Notary Appointments Outside Office Hours

Plenty of people can sign a document — just not between nine and five. The signer is at work, the office is across the city, and the only realistic window is after dinner.

Our posted hours run from 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM every day, so later appointments are part of the normal schedule rather than a special request. Any particular evening slot still depends on availability that day.

The problem we solve

The nine-to-five notary problem

Traditional notary access is built around the business day. Bank branches, law offices, and shipping counters close about the time most people finish work, which leaves the signer choosing between taking time off and letting the document sit.

Evening appointments also fit situations where the daytime location is simply wrong. Someone would rather not sign personal estate documents at their desk, or the household only has everyone under one roof after the commute and dinner.

This is a scheduling need, not an emergency. If your deadline is today, the same-day page describes how we handle that. If your problem is that the day is booked solid, an evening appointment is usually the cleaner answer.

Documents we may encounter

Evening appointments cover the same documents as any other appointment. The document, the receiving party, or the preparer determines whether notarization is required.

What to have ready

Evening appointments run smoothly when the details are settled while offices are still open to answer questions.

  • The complete printed document with any notarial wording included
  • Acceptable, unexpired photo identification for each signer
  • The address and, for apartments or offices, how to get in after hours
  • Whether there is exterior lighting or a specific entrance to use
  • A well-lit table or surface with room to work
  • Any witness arrangements confirmed in advance
  • Confirmation of the latest time that still works for everyone
Please do not sign in advance when the applicable notarial procedure requires signing in the notary's presence. If you are unsure whether witnesses are needed or which notarial act the document calls for, check the document itself or ask the person or agency that prepared it. Mobile Notary Philadelphia does not provide legal advice.

Important signer requirements

An evening appointment carries the same requirements as a midday one.

  • The notary must be able to identify each signer using acceptable identification or another method allowed under applicable law.
  • The notary must be able to communicate directly with each signer at the appointment.
  • The notary must be able to determine that each signer is acting willingly for purposes of the notarization.
  • Documents requiring signature in the notary's presence should be left unsigned until the appointment.
  • Late appointments are limited by the posted schedule and by availability that day; confirm the time when you book rather than assuming it.
